As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, I believe that meaningful change arises from the intersection of evidence-based practice, compassion, and genuine human connection. My work is guided by a deep respect for the dignity, individuality, and potential of every child and the unique values and voices of their families, schools, and communities.
At the heart of my philosophy is the belief that behavior is a form of communication. My role is to listen through data, observation, and conversation, then respond with interventions that are ethical, person-centered, and empowering.
Whether I am working in a clinic, a home, or a school, my approach is anchored in the following core values:
- Collaboration: Partner with families and professionals to ensure interventions are respectful and cooperative, not just directive. I value and integrate their insights, knowing that they are the experts in their own lives and settings.
- Cultural Responsiveness: Honor each family’s cultural background and values in every aspect of intervention planning. I strive to ensure that goals are socially meaningful and align with what families value most.
- Compassionate Care: Use supportive, non-coercive approaches that prioritize emotional safety and trust. My interventions prioritize safety, trust, and emotional regulation, and reject coercion or control as a means of achieving compliance.
- Empowerment Through Skill Building: Focus on teaching meaningful, functional skills that promote independence and quality of life. I seek to equip families and caregivers with the tools, confidence, and knowledge to support their child beyond our sessions.
- Data-Driven, Flexibly Applied: Use data to guide decisions while adapting strategies to fit each child’s unique needs. Every intervention is tailored, monitored, and adapted to reflect the child’s evolving needs, preferences, and responsiveness.
- Lifelong Learning and Reflection: Commit to ongoing education, self-awareness, and ethical growth as a practitioner. I welcome feedback, seek supervision, and remain current with the research to ensure my practices are both effective and ethical.
